Economy, Businesses, and Jobs PDF Print E-mail

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the source of income of a majority of our labor market. As a small business owner myself, I understand the unique challenges faced by small business owners trying to manage benefits at an ever-increasing cost, deal with various taxes and fees, remain competitive with larger stores, and still have time to spend with the family.

The best way to help the current housing market crisis is to bring in more and better-paying jobs. Homeowners with improved employment options will be less likely to face foreclosure.

We need to stimulate the economy by creating jobs and improving wages. We can get there by:

  • reducing health care expenses in the state
  • reduce taxes on small businesses
  • encourage entrepreneurship (also by making health care coverage universal/portable)
  • enhance public education
  • develop new job opportunities through renewable energy
  • improve public transportation systems and other infrastructure
  • reach out to rural areas with energy jobs, educational opportunities, and transportation
