Legislators are elected to represent the people of their district. As their representative, members of the House and Senate should operate transparently and in the interest of their constituents, not special interest groups. I support open records laws, enhanced real-time reporting of activities at the Capitol, and putting an end to 'Orwellian' bill language whose only purpose is to deceive.
Our Legislature was intended to be citizen-run, and I believe that we need fewer special-interest power brokers and more common citizens that are in touch with the needs of their neighbors under the Capitol dome.
I intend to carry forth with my personal Triple Bottom Line philosophy and apply it to good government:
- Cut waste and strengthen the state budget
- Promote legislation that benefits the people
- Do no harm to the environment
